Niagara County Sheriff's Department Communications |
The Niagara County Communications Center dispatches the following departments: The Niagara County Sheriff's Department, Town of Niagara Police, Lewiston Police, Village of Youngstown Police, Middleport Police, Village of Barker Police, 29 Volunteer Fire Departments, and Tri Town and Tri Community Ambulance Services. The three cities also have their own dispatch centers and receive calls from there as well as the Sheriff's Department Communication Center.
There are three personnel assigned to the Communications Center on each shift. Two civilian dispatchers and a uniformed officer (Sgt. of Act. Sgt.). A uniform T/Sgt. is responsible for the overall operations of the center. Each shift dispatches to fifteen road patrol personnel from the Sheriff's Department and seven to ten patrols from each of the other departments.
There are other agencies that have the capability to switch to the Sheriff's frequency including the New York State Police, Department of Conservation, Lockport Police and the FBI.
Along with normal calls, the center is responsible for Emergency 911 calls.
The Communications Center is located in the Niagara County Jail complex in the center of Niagara County, Town of Lockport.
The Communication Center has recently been updated to include the new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's) for the patrol cars.
