Niagara County Sheriff's Department Juvenile Bureau |
The primary function of the Juvenile Bureau is to investigate crimes reported to the patrol division when the perpetrators are believed to be juveniles (aged 7 through 16). When the results are positive, the offenders are referred to the Niagara County Probation Department for disposition or further action by Niagara County Family Court.
Juvenile also investigates less serious juvenile problems that arise at home and in schools, and refers these matters to the Niagara County Probation Department under the PINS (Persons in need of supervision). Juvenile transports all juvenile delinquents and PINS to and from all holding centers for proceedings while in the custody of the Niagara County Family Court.
Juvenile is also responsible for processing all Missing Persons reported to the Niagara County Sheriff's Department regardless of age.
