Niagara County Sheriff's Department Law Enforcement Academy |
The Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy (N.C.L.E.A.) was founded in 1973 to serve the police agencies of Niagara County. The Academy, which does extensive training of police, corrections, and communications officers, has grown over the years and is now serving not only Niagara County, but law enforcement agencies in Erie, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, and Livingston counties.
Training programs conducted and hosted by the N.C.L.E.A. include Basic Course for Police, Basic Corrections Officer Course, Civilian Dispatch Training, DWI Detection, Accident Investigation, Police Supervision, Radar Operator, Breath Test Operator, Fingerprinting, Environmental Crimes, as well as a wide variety of current training topics. Law enforcement professionals are constantly provided with opportunities aimed at continuing their education in the fields of their expertise.
The Board of Directors for the Law Enforcement Academy is comprised of the Sheriff of Niagara County and the Chiefs of Police from Lockport, Niagara Falls, and North Tonawanda. The LEA is served by a Director and staff from the Sheriff's Department and a Director from the Niagara Falls Police Department. The LEA is located in the Business Resource Center on the campus of Niagara County Community College.
